Spring 2010

A tiny bit of green...Knudshoved Odde, Southern Sealand, may 2010
Spring seems somehow to be a matter of color. All through the winter there
has been little more but browns, greys, black and white for the eye to see.
By the end of the winter, the soul and the eye is yearning for color and light,
and we start to scout for a tiny bit of green.

To me, this spring has in more than one regard become all about color since
I am these days working on a large colorplate project wich will end up with
about 720 small squares of different colors! This work is a kind of mind
opener to the vast lands of color, and it is in fact mindblowing...!

As a complement to my extended color work, Johnny and I happened to go
up to the museum of Louisiana in Northern Sealand. Right now they show
a magnificent exhibition "COLOR in ART", wich is in terms of color a true
messenger of spring. Leaving this exhibition, your head is spinning with
color! Among other wonderful things there is some master pieces by
Wassily Kandinsky on display, and a fantastic installation by the contemporary
artist Yayoi Kusama. This is a work of art that can only be experienced in
real life and just because of this installation, you really should visit this exhibition,
if you can.

Kandisky himself sums up the magic of color in these words:

Colour creates a psychic vibration.

Colour hides a still unknown but real power
that has an effect on every part of the human body
Wassily Kandisky ( 1866-1944)

I wish a colourful spring to every soul.
